How we handle evidence

Every statement on a board is a claim tied to one source, with the quote and the page it comes from. Each claim carries one of five labels. A connection shows its strongest claim; a path is only as strong as its weakest link.

Documented
Documented: The primary record states it directly.
Reported
Reported: Credible reporting; underlying record not reached.
Alleged
Alleged: An accusation — testimony, complaint, deposition.
Disputed
Disputed: A denial or contradicting record exists.
Inferred
Inferred: Our analysis connecting other claims.

Protected individual

Victims and anyone who was a minor are never named. They appear only as a redaction bar, claims about them are withheld, and their names are scrubbed from every public text. Private individuals are named only when every claim about them is documented in a primary record. Presence in a record is not evidence of wrongdoing.
